About Our Worship Service

The liturgy (our worship service) comes from Scripture. The whole service is ordered and designed to use God's Word to bring praise and thanks and glory to God. The earliest Christian churches gathered to pray, to hear teaching, and primarily to partake in the bread and the wine of Holy Communion.


Our Practice of Holy Communion

St. Paul writes: “Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup.” (1 Corinthians 11:27–28, ESV)
 
Not one of us is worthy on our own merit to receive our Lord Jesus. Nevertheless, he bids us to come to him all the same (Matthew 11:28-30). And so, trusting his great mercy, anyone may come to him in faith, having examined oneself according to this confession: 
 
All who are baptized in the name of the Triune God, believe in the real presence of Jesus in the bread and the wine of Holy Communion, and are repentant of their sins are welcome at the Lord’s Table.
 
All others may come forward for a blessing, signaling this by crossing your arms over your chest.

    1. Five minutes before the scheduled worship service, call this number: (646) 558-8656.  (This is a toll number, so it's probably best to use your cell phone. 301-715-8592 or 312-626-6799 can be used as a back up.)
    2. When asked for the Meeting ID, enter 7243272190, then press “#”.  (This is the church phone number in case you forget it. Be ready to punch it in when you call since you won't have much time to start punching the numbers before it will hang up.)
    3. When asked for the Participant ID, press “#”. You will then be placed in the meeting.

  • Instructions for Participating by App

    1. Download and install the iPhone (or iPad) or the Android apps are available for Zoom in the respective app store. 
    2. If you have the app loaded you can click this link and the meeting will launch: Zoom ELC Service. 
    3. If requested, the Meeting ID is 7243272190 and the Passcode is 2190. (The meeting ID is the church phone number in case you forget it.)
    4. Choose 'WiFi or Cellular Data' or 'Dial In' dependent upon your preference.

  • Instructions for Participating by Browser

    1. Either click the following link and it will launch in your default web browser or launch your browser and paste the following link into your browser’s address bar: Zoom ELC Service
    2. Click on 'Launch Meeting'
    3. After clicking 'Launch Meeting', a link will appear to 'Join from Your Browser' – Click this link.
    4. If requested, the Meeting ID is 7243272190 and the Passcode is 2190.  (The meeting ID is the church phone number in case you forget it.)
    5. Click 'Join Audio by Computer' – You may need to grant Zoom permission to use your microphone.
